mr. S.T.M. (Sophie) Eijsbouts

Sophie Eijsbouts obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law from Maastricht University and completed her Master’s degree in Criminal Law at the University of Amsterdam. Prior to joining JKR Advocaten, she gained extensive experience at several renowned criminal law firms in Amsterdam. She has been affiliated with JKR Advocaten as a lawyer since August 2021.

Sophie grew up in an entrepreneurial family with a family business in which she remains actively involved. She works in a focused and pragmatic manner. Sophie maintains calm and clear oversight, takes the time for her clients, and ensures they always understand their position. Her communication is clear and direct; clients experience her as persuasive, approachable, and accessible.

Sophie represents both adult and juvenile clients in a wide range of general criminal cases, varying from large-scale investigations into international drug trafficking and serious violent and sexual offences to traffic offences, property offences, and driving licence proceedings. She also handles cases involving extradition and surrender.

In addition to representing suspects, Sophie also assists victims and next of kin. She guides them throughout the entire criminal process, including filing a police report, drafting victim impact statements, submitting claims for compensation, and providing assistance during court hearings.

In the register of legal practice areas of the Netherlands Bar Association, mr. Eijsbouts has registered the fields of Criminal Law and Victim Law. This registration obliges her to obtain continuing education credits annually in these areas in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.
