Mark Rijnsburger studied Law and Criminology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he completed his Master’s degree in Law cum laude. After gaining experience in legal practice during his studies, he was admitted to the Bar in 2012. As of 1 January 2020, he is one of the founding partners of Jansen Kneepkens Rijnsburger Advocaten.
His practice consists of representing adults, juveniles, and companies in various types of criminal cases. In particular, Mark assists clients suspected of violent offences, property offences, and sexual offences, as well as suspects prosecuted under the Opium Act or the Weapons and Ammunition Act. He also handles cases relating to the Road Traffic Act, penitentiary law, and proceedings concerning unlawfully obtained gains. Finally, Mark represents suspects in cassation proceedings before the Supreme Court.
Mark completed the postgraduate specialization course in criminal law at the Pompe Institute of Utrecht University and has been affiliated as a guest lecturer at the University of Amsterdam. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers (NVSA).
In the register of legal practice areas of the Netherlands Bar Association, mr. Rijnsburger has registered the field of Criminal Law. This registration obliges him to obtain ten continuing education credits in this field each calendar year in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.
