mr. S.J. (Bas) Jansen

Bas Jansen has a broad litigation practice with a focus on general criminal law. He represents companies, professionals, and private individuals who are (or risk being) confronted with criminal law and other government-imposed sanctions. He also specializes in juvenile (criminal) law, traffic (criminal) law, and extradition and surrender proceedings. In addition, he represents many international clients who come into contact with the Dutch criminal justice system, as well as Dutch nationals abroad.

Bas studied Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam and Maastricht University. After completing an internship at a renowned criminal law firm, it became clear to him where his future lay. Following a long tenure at an Amsterdam-based criminal law firm, he took the next step and became one of the founders of Jansen, Kneepkens Rijnsburger Advocaten.

Bas completed the postgraduate specialization course in criminal law at the Pompe Institute of Utrecht University. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers (NVSA), the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA), and the European Fraud and Compliance Lawyers Association (EFCL).

In the register of legal practice areas of the Netherlands Bar Association, mr. Jansen has registered the field of Criminal Law. This registration obliges him to obtain ten continuing education credits in this field each calendar year in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.
